These four documents contain findings of the studies conducted in the 20 km belt along the coastline of Gujarat. Village level socio-economic profile of all the districts and talukas are given. Maps of each of the districts covered with the stations marked are included. The documents provide an analysis of oceanographic interactions with coastal region. These contain detailed information on the impact of industries and other developmental activities on agriculture and allied activities, coastal geology, water quality of important stations and plankton composition.

  1. Coastal and Maritime Environments of Gujarat: Ecology and Economics (English). 168 p. Rs. 400/-

Coastal and Maritime Environments of Gujarat: Ecology and Economics (Gujarati). 152p. Rs. 400/-

This book consists of fourteen chapters and presents a detailed account of the coastal and marine environments of Gujarat as of AD 2000. From the ecology point of view the book details geomorphology, bathymetry, climate, tides and currents, hydrography, hydrochemistry, marine biology and fisheries of the coastal waters of Gujarat. Four critical habitats, e.g. mangroves, coral reefs and the estuaries of Narmada and Tapi rivers have been separately described. Special emphasis has been placed on the threats to Marine Ecology. The latter half of the book deals with demography, industry, agriculture, forestry, livestock, groundwater and socio-economic aspects including land-use pattern and infrastructure.

  1. Coral Reefs of the Gulf of Kachchh - Present Status. (April 1999) (Colour). 55p. Rs. 550/-

Coral Reefs of the Gulf of Kachchh - Present Status. (April 1999) (Black & White). 55p. Rs. 200/-

The document presents information based on subtidal underwater videography of coral reefs in Gulf of Kachchh. Out of the total 34 coral reef islands present in Gulf of Kachchh, four reefs were surveyed which include: Pirotan, Karumbhar, Boria and Beyt Shankodar. The document describes reef flora and fauna at each of the stations, along with colour photographs.

  1. Coral Reefs of the Gulf of Kachchh - Present Status (Feb. 2003) (Colour). 50p. Rs. 850/-

Out of the total 34 coral reef islands present in Gulf of Kachchh, 10 were explored in an underwater videography survey. This document describes the findings of the survey. The reefs videographed were Jindra, Chaad, Bhens Bid, Goos, Munde, Narara, Karumbhar, Dhani beyt and Paga. The document describes flora and fauna at each of the reef along with their colour photographs.

  1. Coral reefs of the Gulf of Kachchh- a sub-tidal videograpghy. 82p. Rs. 500/-

This monograph presents a detailed description of the sub-tidal videography of thirteen prominent coral reefs of the Gulf of Kachchh. The coral reefs are: Pirotan, Jindra beyt, Chaad tapu, Bhens bid, Munde ka bet, Goos reef, Narara beyt, Karumbhar tapu, Dhani beyt, Ajad tapu, Paga reef, Boria and Beyt Shankodar. This is a pioneering study, as all the information on record and inferences drawn so far have been based on observations on inter-tidal coral reefs. Current status of the sub-tidal corals and their associated flora and fauna is presented through a number of underwater colour photographs and satellite imageries. A comparison of observations in February 1999 and December 2002 is also made. The monograph presents some interesting findings.

  1. Underwater Video on Coral Reef of Gulf of Kachchh - CD (Pirotan, Karumbhar, Boria & Beyt Shankodar). February, 1999. Rs. 495/-

  2. Underwater Video on Coral Reef of Gulf of Kachchh - CD (Chaad, Jindra, Bhens, Munde, Goos, Narara, Karumbhar, Dhani, Ajad and Paga). February 2003. Rs. 750/-
These two underwater audio-video documentary CDs (first of 18 minutes and the second of 26 minutes) present the pioneer work on subtidal corals in the Marine National Park, Gulf of Kachchh. The CDs also provide a comparative assessment of the status of certain reefs over four years.
